Cost guide
What does landscape lighting cost in Tampa Bay?
The six things that set the price, and how to plan a system that fits your budget.
Quick answerLandscape lighting cost depends mainly on how many fixtures you need, how many zones and transformers it takes, the length of the wire runs, warm white versus color, the controls and any marine-grade dock work. Most Zuzack lighting systems start around $4,000, covering landscape up-lighting, some path lights, and the transformer and wire, with a 10-year warranty on our own Zflex fixtures. Packages are built to fit each customer's budget.

The six things that set the price
- Number of fixtures. Each up-light, path light, light bar or dock light is a fixture. This is the biggest driver.
- Zones and transformers. Larger systems need more power and separate zones, so you can run the front, back and dock on their own.
- Wire runs and access. Long distances, pavers, driveways and dense beds add labor.
- Warm white or color. Color-changing lights for pool cages and holidays cost more than warm white.
- Controls. Timers and photocells are simplest. More advanced control adds cost.
- Waterfront work. Docks and seawalls need marine-grade, saltwater-sealed fixtures.
Where most systems start
Most Zuzack lighting systems start around $4,000. That typically covers landscape up-lighting, some path lights, and the transformer and wire. The fixtures carry a 10-year warranty on our own Zflex fixtures, and up to 20 years on other brands, depending on the fixture.
We build packages to fit every customer's budget, and every home is quoted individually. A front-of-house package usually lights the facade, entry, one or two feature trees and the walkway. A full-property system adds the backyard, pool cage and lanai, and sometimes a dock, so it costs more. We'll quote yours once we know what you want lit.
What you're paying for
- Our own Zflex LED fixtures, with a 10-year warranty (other brands available on request, up to 20 years).
- A stand-alone low-voltage system that doesn't touch your house wiring.
- Design and installation by a lighting pro: Michael has personally trained outdoor lighting contractors in seven states, from Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, West Palm Beach, Georgia and North and South Carolina.
What it costs to run
LED lighting is inexpensive to run. According to the U.S. Department of Energy (opens in a new tab), LEDs use at least 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and last up to 25 times longer. Timers mean the lights only run when you want them.
How to get the most for your budget
- Start with the front. It's what you and your neighbors see every night.
- Light fewer things, well. A few well-aimed fixtures beat many bright ones. DarkSky International (opens in a new tab) recommends light that is targeted and no brighter than needed.
- Plan for later. Size the transformer for zones you might add.
- Fix water problems first. Standing water and sprinkler spray are hard on any outdoor system.
“I had this company install a yard drainage system at my home. They earned 5 stars in every category: responsiveness, communication, pricing, delivery, and quality of workmanship.”
